In the thick of weed beds teeming with life, you need the right tools. The rattling Rapala Weedless Shad is an easy-to-cast lure with a wobbling, kicking action. After casting, you can let it sink to the bottom in sparser vegetation, as the weed guard prevents it from snagging. Vary the retrieval speed and use the rod tip to guide the action. You can also try a stop-and-retrieve action, keeping the line tight. By extending the pauses, you can let the lure sink all the way to the bottom and experiment with a jigging-style retrieve. Pike is the primary target in the weeds, but perch have also shown interest in the Weedless Shad during testing.
In addition to casting and regular trolling, the Rapala Weedless Shad is also effective for long rods in vertical jigging.
